Albert Hensley, 79, of Keithsburg, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012.
Albert was saved by the grace of God at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine, Iowa. He had lived in Keithsburg for many years but, at the time of his death, was living at Lutheran Homes.
Funeral services are Saturday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at First Christian Church, Keithsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left for Hospice Compassus. Burial will be at Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg, with graveside military rites by Mercer County VFW Post 1571. Dennison Funeral Home, Aledo, is handling arrangements.
Albert was born July 11, 1933, in Flag Pond, Tenn., a son of John and Lila Mae Tipton Hensley.
Albert was an Army veteran, having entered at the age of 16. He drove truck his whole life, from the time he was 17 until his stroke. He was a hard worker and loved logging. Mr. Hensley was a Mason. Albert loved to work in the garden. He also loved animals, fishing and hunting. He dearly loved his friends and family. In return, he was much loved by them and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Joe (Jim) Thompson, Erwin, Tenn., Tammy Bromell, Stuart, Iowa, Lesley Jones, Bayard, Iowa, and Debra Rogers, Bayard; sons, Troy Hensley, Illinois, William Hensley, Winterset, Iowa, and Kevin Abbadusky, New Boston; sisters, Catherine Castillo, San Jose, Calif., and Alice Kalbfleisch, Port Angeles, Wash.; several half-brothers and half-sisters in Flag Pond; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews including very special cousin, Geraldine Hardin, Erwin, Tenn.; special niece, Elizabeth Mae Hensley Jones, Jonesborough, Tenn.; and loyal and devoted friends, Jeff and Deb Wakeland, Keithsburg, -- Jeff was a son by choice. A special thanks to Joe DeMarlie, of DeMarlie Trucking, who has been Albert's boss and friend for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
