BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — A Bloomington woman who's accused of choking her mother-in-law to death has pleaded guilty to hiding the body.

The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports that Misook Nowlin entered the plea Monday as jury selection began on the first-degree murder charge. That trial is moving forward, and Nowlin has pleaded not guilty.

Nowlin is accused of killing her 70-year-old mother-in-law, Wenlan Linda Tyda of Crest Hill, in September 2011. She is claiming self-defense.

McLean County prosecutors say Nowlin lured her mother-in-law to central Illinois by making her think a job was available translating Chinese.

Nowlin has admitted directing police to a DuPage Forest preserve where the victim was buried. Judge Robert Freitag told Nowlin she faces two to five years when she is sentenced on the homicide concealment charge.
