Michael D. Polchow, 65, Rock Island, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Trinity Rock Island.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Michael Polchow Educational Scholarship Fund at Scott Community College.
Michael was born on Feb. 26, 1947, in Moline. He married Diane Sowers on Nov. 30, 1969, at Zion Lutheran Church, East Moline. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
Mr. Polchow retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He enjoyed growing flowers, gardening and fishing. He was an artist who expressed himself by painting and loved to expand his knowledge through reading. He was an amazing and dedicated father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Doug Anderson, Coal Valley; granddaughters, Emma and Maddie; and his brother, Robert Polchow, Milan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel (Trusdale) Polchow; and his son, Ryan, who died on Sept. 14, 2006.
