Vintage Rods donates $2,500 to student scholarship fund Quad City’s Vintage Rods car club recently donated $2,500 to the Black Hawk College Foundation to support a student scholarship. Club members Larry Fells of Silvis (left) and Gary Miller of East Moline presented the check to Shelly Wells Cain, executive director of the BHC Foundation, and Dr. Thomas Baynum, Black Hawk College president. The money was generated by gate admissions to the Quad City’s Vintage Rods 41st Annual Car Show held Sept. 30, 2012, at the college’s Quad-Cities Campus. The 2013 show will be Sunday, Sept. 29. The donation goes to the Vintage Rods scholarship, which is available to Quad-Cities Campus students with excellent academic performance. Five students received a scholarship in Fall 2012. Since 1984, the rods club has given more than $60,500 to the BHC Foundation and has donated to the college for more consecutive years than any other organization.
