Peoria Christian 44, Alleman 37: The Pioneers couldn't overcome 29-percent shooting and fell to Peoria Christian 44-37 in the opening round of the State Farm Classic.

Alleman was just 2-for-12 in the second quarter, and the Lady Chargers took advantage by going on a 6-point run to end the half with a 4-point lead. At the break there had been 11 lead changes and 5 ties. In the second half, Alleman never got closer than 5 points.

"Early we got good shots but they just didn't go in," Alleman coach Jay Hatch said. "When we started missing shots the girls got tentative and didn't want to shoot. We can't do that. We have to know we're going to miss shots, but we have to keep taking open looks."

The Pioneers were led by Anne Bohnert who scored 12 points, and the inside trio of Erin Morrisey, Daria Guzzo and Maddie McGuire who each pulled down 6 rebounds.

Peoria Christian's Taylor Howarrd led all scorerd with 16 points, getting 9 of them in the third quarter as the Chargers started to pull away.
