Robert D. "Bob" Walker Sr., 78, of Rock Island, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at his home.
Cremation rites were accorded. Services will be private. Inurnment will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made in care of the QC Animal Welfare Center, 724 2nd Ave. W., Milan, IL 61264. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Rock Island, is assisting the family.
Bob was born on Feb. 15, 1934, in Rock Island, a son of Lyell and Thelma Noll Walker. He married Joanne Caldwell, who preceded him in death. He later married Shirley Nary on Feb. 10, 1970. She also preceded him in death on July 16, 2010.
Bob spent more than 50 years of his career as a truck driver. He last drove for Jim Hawk Truck Trailers and retired in 2008. He also was a U.S. Army veteran.
Bob enjoyed slot machines, fishing and traveling. He also was a very big supporter of rescue animals, especially dogs.
Survivors include his children, Susan Bacorn, Robert Walker Jr., Richard Walker, Shelia Mulstrum and Randolph Walker; stepchildren, Larry J. Robinson, Karen Michael, David L. Robinson, Jayne M. Burmiester, James Robinson and Carol Greene; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his wives; stepdaughter, Vicki L. Robinson; parents; and two sisters.
