Betty Jane Greer, 89, of Moline, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Christ Anglican Church, 1717 8th Ave., Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family.
Betty was born on Sept. 14, 1923, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of James Anthony. She married Franklin C. Greer on Nov. 7, 1959, in Moline. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1998.
Betty worked as a nurse for Dr. Bill Mencrow for more than 20 years and Help at Home for 11 years. She was a member of Christ Anglican Church, where she was an Altar Guild, lay reader and Vestry member. Betty was a senior cadet nurse at Vaughn General Hospital. At Moline Public Hospital she was in the Alumni Association 5th District for Nurses. Also, she was Team Grandma for Chung Kim's Spellious Competition for Tae Kwan Do. Her best accomplishments in life were that she was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly (Rob) Brooks, Moline, Sharon Swailes, Rock Island; daughter-in-law, Marlo Greer, Rock Island; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jenica, James, Joshua, Jonathon, Justin, Tim and Christine; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, James; and granddaughter, Stacey.
