Letter: Firearm owner ID cards should be color-coded

Comment on this story

As far as I'm concerned the State of Illinois is doing a great job with its Firearm Owner Identification card, but it needs to be improved.

It also has to be expanded to all states.

Let's make some color codes to cover all categories of permits for everyone.

We can improve it for better gun control. Keep in mind that all persons will be checked out.

-- Red: No gun permit is issued for this person. Arrest is done at once.
-- Yellow: One handgun or one rifle. (Guidelines are at the bottom of the permit.)
-- Blue: One of each is available in both categories. Both must be registered with the state.

A permit must be issued for persons with expensive gun or knife collections.
This may (will) also include permits to carry handgun for security reasons.

All categories will not include AK-47 or other guns with multi-clip or magazines unless altered for collection use only.

This will fall into the category of blue cards.

All owner's are subject to a full investigation.
