Quad Cities hosts the BMX Illinois State Qualifier on Sunday
Rock Island, Ill. – The Quad Cities hosts the first in the state BMX Illinois State Qualifier of the 2013 season on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at 12:30 p.m. at the QCCA Expo Center, 2621 4th Avenue in Rock Island, Ill. The expected rider count is over 150 riders from all over the Quad Cities and surrounding areas.
Indoor BMX racing continues all weekend, starting on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Spectators can watch for free. This is the final Indoor BMX racing weekend at the QCCA Expo Center.

(The races on Friday and Saturday typically last two hours, and the qualifier races on Sunday will last around three hours.)
The Rock Island Indoor BMX track is run by the volunteers at East Moline BMX Speedway. They are a non-profit track with rider ages ranging from 5 to 50 and over.
The Saturday race is the Bob Warnicke Race for Life Double Points Race. It happens at 380 tracks across the country. The Bob Warnicke Race is part of the Bob Warnicke Memorial Scholarship which awards over $25,000 to undergraduate students who are USA BMX members and participate in USA BMX sanctioned events. They are given out across the country and in Canada in different increments.
The Quad Cities was chosen to host a 2013 USA BMX National. It will be held July 19-21, at the East Moline BMX Speedway. This is the first time the Quad Cities has hosted a USA BMX National that is part of the National series. The Quad Cities was chosen out of 380 tracks across the country to host this race. There will be approximately 1,500 riders and around 5,000 spectators coming to the Quad Cities next July. It's estimated to have a $2.8 million impact on the area.
