A fire prevention company is suing Lanum Electric, claiming the Bettendorf company, doing business as Russell Electric, owes it more than $60,000.
SimplexGrinnell LP filed the lawsuit Monday in Rock Island County Circuit Court, contending that efforts to be compensated for its work by Russell have been unsuccessful.
In June of 2010, SimplexGrinnell LP agreed to service and supply fire alarms and suppression systems for several projects Russell Electric was working on, the suit states.
The projects included various buildings on the Rock Island Arsenal, Trinity Park Professional Center, Western Illinois University Quad-Cities Campus and Trinity West Medical Center.
The lawsuit said the jobs were completed by Nov. 18, 2011, and Russell Electric was billed $55,481.95, the cost of services and materials SimplexGrinnell provided over that year.
SimplexGrinnell "completed all work and performed all conditions for its part provided for by the Agreement," the suit claims, but Russell Electric "has repeatedly refused to pay."
SimplexGrinnell said Russell also owes $5,548.20 in interest, for a total of $61,030.15, as of the date the lawsuit was filed.
Russell Electric could not be reached for comment on Thursday. Records indicate that a May 16 case management conference has been scheduled to review the issue.
