Richard "Ike" Malmstrom, of Inman, S.C., passed away on Dec. 25, 2012, leaving behind a wife, Maxine, seven children and 23 grandchildren, all who call him their hero and miss him tremendously. Also surviving him are five sisters and their families. He was 79.
His immediate family had a private ceremony. However, a memorial tribute is planned to be on his birthday, June 10 2013, in Tryon, N.C. For further information, call (864) 921-5036.
Ike was a graduate of United Township High School, served two years in the Army, worked for Rock Island Lines, drove trucks for Hatten Trucking, farmed six years in Wisconsin and later worked trucks with Malmstrom and Sharp evolving into Malmstrom Trucking out of Florida with his son, Alan.
He was so proud of his family.
His children are Valerie Edge, Plum City, Wis., Michael, deceased, Lea Bryan, Covington, La, Mitchell, Orlando, Fla., Alan, Piedmont, S.C., Laurie Cole, Campobello, S.C., Marty, Campobello, S.C., and Merry of Inman, S.C.; sisters, Pat Brandmeyer, Nancy Passini, Merry Noah, Joann Hubband and Rebecca Miner. Preceding him in death were his parents, Edwin and Ella; a brother, Dale; and two sisters, Judy Kassel and Beth Crack.
