Funeral services for Myrtle Elinor Stang, 93, of Silvis, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.
Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Stang died on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Silvis.
Myrtle Kommer was born on March 25, 1919, in Clover Township, Henry County, Woodhull, the daughter of Elmer and Otillia "Tillie" Hulstrom Kommer. She graduated from Cambridge schools. She married Theodore Stang on Saturday, Aug. 21, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, by the Rev. Vern Clevelvan of the Christian Church, in the minister's home. Mr. Stang died on July 11, 1985.
She lived in Moline, East Moline and Silvis since 1936. She worked for Sears & Roebuck for 20 years, retiring in 1974.
Survivors include her daughter, Janet (Gary) Gustafson, Orion; son, Ted (Mimi) Stang, Salem, Ore.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Smith, Seattle, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lorraine Carlson; and brothers, Rex, Roy and Fred Kommer.
