RiverCenter will host Q-C version of Inaugural Ball

An Inaugural Ball in Davenport will celebrate President Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony on Jan. 21.

The ball starts at 6 p.m. at The RiverCenter,136 E. 3rd St., and will include dinner, two bands and a big-screen projection of the inaugural ball in Washington, D.C.

Tickets are $40, and any proceeds will go to Churches United's shelter for homeless women.

The event is being organized by Sue Golden, of Rock Island, and Cathy Bolkcom, of LeClaire, who also organized a ball to celebrate President Obama's 2009 inauguration.

Jazz pianist Anthony Catalfano and the Funktastic Five will provide music for the event, and dinner will include beef, vegetarian lasagna, potatoes, rice, vegetables, salad and dessert.

The Hotel Blackhawk has offered discounted rooms for those attending the ball at a rate of $119, according to a news release.
