Deere recalls ATVs over fire risk

Comment on this story

WASHINGTON (AP) - Deere & Co. is voluntarily recalling 4,650 of its utility all-terrain vehicles because a fuel line can separate, causing a risk of a fire.

The voluntary recall was announced on Thursday by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Users were told to stop using the recalled vehicles and contact a John Deere retailer for a free inspection and free repair. The company based in Moline is contacting registered owners of the vehicles directly.

The recall involves the John Deere Gator RSX850i Base, Sport and Trail models made between May and October 2012.

Serial numbers for the recalled vehicles are listed at cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml13/13717.html. Consumers with questions can call the company at (800) 537-8233 or go to johndeere.com for more information.
