Almost three years ago, I was living on a farm with my canine parents and siblings when my human mom and dad came to get me. They brought me to the city where I live now.
My life is so much different from the farm. There are so many interesting sights, sounds, smells and new things to learn.
First, I learned to behave in the house and the car, and then, I went to school to learn to get along and play with my peers. The most favorite thing I am learning to do is to be a therapy dog!
I have been to many places with my human mom and dad, including the dogfest, dog swims, dog parties, a fundraiser and once I went to a restaurant so I could learn good etiquette.
Although all those places were interesting, my favorite place to visit is the Kahl Home in Davenport. I love to visit the residents there. Kahl Home has recently moved to a new location, so I have had to learn my way around all over again, but I don't mind because the residents are so wonderful.
When I visit, the residents tell me stories about pets they have had. Once I heard a story from a man who told me his dog saved his life.
I have not saved lives, but I love to make people smile and think I do a pretty good job of that.
I know the residents love me because one resident even wrote a poem about me. Her name is Harriet "Cozie" Schulz Dias. The poem she wrote is so wonderful and meant so much to me that I wanted to share it with all of you.
Molly the golden retriever has a heart of pure gold, too.
She likes to visit the residents and the helpful Kahl Home crew.
When she visits, she brightens up a dreary day like the sunshine gold she brings;
This doesn't compare to all the wealth of the mightiest kings.
Molly the golden retriever claims everybody's love,
For indeed she is one great gift sent from heaven above.
Everyone who comes her way gives her a happy smile;
She brightens up the dullest day and makes life worthwhile.
