Dan R. Boomershine, 72, of East Moline, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at his residence.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military rites will be conducted by the Moline American Legion Post 246. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Dan was born Sept. 17, 1940, in Moline, the son of Donald and Vivian Jensen Boomershine. He previously was married to Barbara Greb.
He was employed as a technician for STC Electronics and Current Inc. until becoming disabled in 1989.
Dan served his country in the Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He enjoyed painting plaster figurines, fishing, the mountains and was a Chicago Cubs fan. Dan loved his family, his grandchildren and spending time with family.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Joline and Richard Gugliemino, Niceville, Fla., Dana Boomershine and Steve Roberts, Colona, Marla and James Rinker, Las Vegas, Nev., and Alison Boomershine and Neil Haugerud, Fergus Falls, Minn.; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Lisa Boomershine, Broomfield, Colo., and Jon Boomershine and Kristen Egan, Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren, Bethany and Anna Gugliemino, Niceville, and Nathan and Braden Roberts, Colona; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Carol Boomershine, Bettendorf; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Curtis; infant daughter, Victoria; sister, Donna Fotinakes; and uncle, Calvin.
