(Davenport, Iowa) MidCoast Fine Arts presents Image(s), a collection of photos by C.T. Weiss, opening January 25 from 6 to 9 p.m.in the MidCoast gallery at Bucktown Center for the Arts, 225 E. 2nd Street, Davenport.
Weiss, an associate professor of graphic communication at Western Illinois University in Macomb, traces his love of photography to his childhood. "I still remember my father walking around with an old 35mm camera always around his neck," he says. "Even though I realized after college that I couldn't make a living with my camera, I never stopped loving photography."
Accordingly, all of the images in the current exhibit were produced from film negatives using traditional darkroom practices. "This exhibit is all about using the basics," says Weiss. "I still love the moment when I see the negative images for the first time."
The exhibit will run from January 25 to February 22. Weiss will be on hand during the opening to discuss his work and answer questions.
