Harland Theodore "Ted" Doxstader, of Macomb, Ill., passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at his residence.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at First Baptist Church in Macomb with the Rev. Wally Holt officiating. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Private burial of ashes will be held at a later date at the Ipava Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on July 13, 1931, in Peoria, Ill., to Leslie and Mabel Drisko Doxstader. He married Ginny Barkley Farwell on June 28, 1980, in Macomb.
Ted received his master's in education from Western Illinois University in 1954. He was a teacher and principal in Pekin, Ill., for 35 years before retiring. He moved to Macomb in 1986. He and his wife tutored students for 24 years privately in their home.
He was a member of the Rotary Club when he lived in Pekin and the McDonough County Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are his wife; children, Lisa (David Lesser) Weaver, Fairfax, Va., Scott (Julie) Doxstader, Orion, Ted (Vera) Farwell, Rose Hill, Kan., Tim (Teri) Farwell, Macomb, and Amy (Mike) Humphreys, Normal, Ill.; six grandchildren, Kyle Doxstader, Eric Doxstader, Brian Doxstader, Nicole (Andy) Fanning, Ashley Farwell and Kinsey Hamra; and two great-grandchildren, Juliana Fanning and Grace Fanning.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
