Laura Lynn Newton, 54, of Effingham, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at her home of natural causes.

Laura was born on Dec. 25, 1958, in Rock Island, the daughter of Walter LeRoy and Margaret Sarah Russell Newton.
Laura was the youngest of the family and an all around good person. She loved her family, her cats, and her job as a nuclear medicine technician. Laura was an avid book reader, was very knowledgeable in trivia, especially movies. She made beautiful needlework and ceramics. Laura also volunteered her time, talent and abilities to her church.
Those left to honor her memory include siblings, James Louis (Charlotte Dianne) Newton, Joyce (Royal) Hughes, Susan Lee Newton, Susan Jean Newton and Sheila (David) Shirey; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Eleanor Jean Brown; brother, Walter W. Newton; and brother-in-law, William Robert Brown.
