Opal Johnson, 93, of Geneseo, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, in Good Samaritan Village, Geneseo.
There will be no public services. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Ruberg Scholarship Fund to be sent to the family.
The former Opal Rosina Ruberg was born Oct. 6, 1919, in Bureau County, Ill., the daughter of Samuel Joel and Eva Irland Ruberg. She married Dale Johnson on April 9, 1942. He died Sept. 4, 1980.
She worked for J.C. Penney as a clerk for more than 30 years, and taught and served in the church for many years.
Opal is survived by children and their spouses, Mike and Kathy Johnson, Prophetstown, Terry Johnson, Coal Valley, Doug and Theresa Johnson, Sherrard, Sandy and John Knueppel, Cambridge, Peggy and Jeff Oetker, Marshalltown, Iowa, and Kenneth and Deb Johnson, Osco; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews, all whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, Harlen, Delbert, Rodney and Max; and sisters, Fern Geisinger and Eva Dell Ruberg.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Good Samaritan Village for their wonderful care and love of Opal.
