A Davenport woman died Friday night after being struck by a train in DeWitt.

Kristina Marie Johnson, 21, was hit by a westbound Union Pacific train, according to a press release.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, the Clinton County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the Union Pacificrailroad crossing at 300th Avenue, about a half a mile north of Highway 30 on the east edge of DeWitt,for a train-pedestrian accident, according to the release.

Ms. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clinton County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy will be performed at the Iowa State Medical Examiner's office in Ankeny, according to the release.

The incident remains under investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff's Office.

No other information was available Saturday.
