Mike Jacobs (D-36), State Rep. Mike Smiddy (D-71), State Rep. Pat Verschoore (D-72), State Rep. Don Moffitt (R-74) and State Rep. Norine Hammond (R-93). The group met with the trustees and college administrators for two hours to discuss a variety of higher education topics, including pension reform, student financial aid and investment in capital projects and instruction.
BHC closed Monday for MLK holiday

All Black Hawk College locations and facilities will be closed Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The college will reopen Tuesday.

Learn about sales projections, cash flow for small business

Small business owners can learn about sales projections, cash flow statements and how they are part of a business plan at the Black Hawk College course "Expenses, Sales, Profits — What Do the Numbers Mean to the Business Owner?"

The class will be from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Illinois workNet Center in Moline. Cost is $50.

Dance like the stars with BHC classes

Put on your dancing shoes and learn how to dance this year at Black Hawk College. Upcoming classes include:
Beginning Ballroom Dancing: 7-8:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 28 to March 11. Cost is $49 per couple.
Ballroom Dancing — Latin Style: 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 29 to March 5. Cost is $49 per couple.

Prep for food service test with BHC classes

Restaurant and food service workers can prepare to take the state of Illinois food service certification exam with Food Service Sanitation classes at Black Hawk College.

The class will meet from 6-9 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 28 to March 11, at the college's Outreach Center in East Moline. The test will be given during the last class.

Cost is $105 for residents of the Black Hawk College district. Call for out-of-district rates.

The class will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 29 to Feb. 5, at the college's Outreach Center in East Moline. Cost is $15.

New computer users can learn the basics of Windows in the Black Hawk College class, Computer Windows Basics.

The class will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 31 at the college's Outreach Center in East Moline. Cost is $43.
