MILAN -- Village treasurer Sarah Bohnsack reported an improving financial picture at Tuesday's board meeting.

Milan operated at a deficit the previous two years, she said, but is finally generating enough revenue to maintain a balance. The revenue increase is attributed to municipal utility and telecommunication taxes passed in February 2011.

"Once again, I am extremely proud of department heads and how they maintained within budgets," said Ms. Bohnsack.

Also on Tuesday, board members discussed adding a parking sign at the entrance of the new bike path parking lot behind Subway and E-Z Livin' Sports Center at 231 1st Ave. W. Not enough peopleare using the parking lot to access the extended bike path, said Mayor Duane Dawson, and he said he thinks a sign notifying people of the available parking will increase the trails' use.

"It's a great spot for eagle viewing," he said. "You can see them fishing."
