RI man out of prison only weeks before another driving arrest

An April 15 bench trial is scheduled for Bryan Joel Dickinson,26, of Rock Island, accused of driving on a revoked license just weeks after serving prison time for a 2008 reckless homicide conviction.

Mr. Dickinson pleaded guilty in 2008 to killing Carl Rawson, 77, of Las Cruces, N.M., during a 2007 car crash in Moline.He was sentenced in February 2009, to a five-year prison term, receiving credit for time served and was released in July 2012.

On Aug. 25, Mr. Dickinson was stopped by in the 800 block of 19th Avenue, Moline, and arrested for driving on a revoked license.

Mr. Dickinson, who is out on bond, made a brief appearance Thursday in Rock Island County Circuit Court and waived his right to a jury trial. Judge Walter Braud is slated to preside over the bench trial.
