Police are looking for a Rock Island woman facing five counts of forgery and five counts of deceptive practices for allegedly trying to scam several Quad-Cities banks out of thousands of dollars.

Genesis Shakira Johnson, 21, of 1309 14th St., Rock Island, has been charged in at least three separate cases in Rock Island County Circuit Court. As of Thursday evening, she was not in the custody of the Rock Island County Jail Thursday evening.

The first case contends Ms. Johnson tried to submit at least $9,500 of fraudulent checks during November into accounts at Deere Harvester Credit Union in Moline, and Gas and Electric Credit Union in Rock Island.

In all three cases, she is accused of writing checks totaling at least $7,213 on closed accounts, according to court records.
