Emily Thomas, Moline girls golf - 2011-2012 fall all-stars
Moline girls' golf star Emily Thomas signed a National Letter of Intent to accept a scholarship Friday and hit the links next fall for downstate Rend Lake Community College.

A two-time state qualifier, Thomas heads to a program that has finished among the Top 10 for the last 11 seasons at the Junior College national tournament.

Rend Lake also has won 10 Region XXIV titles in the last 14 seasons.

A four-year varsity letterwinner, Thomas won the Western Big 6 Conference crown last fall. The two-time All-Big 6 performer also was a three-time All-Area selection by The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus.

Also inking recently was Moline classmate Cal Moyer. The senior outfielder will play baseball at Tennessee's NAIA Bryan College.

Moyer is a transfer from Crystal Lake Central, where he spent part of his sophomore season with the varsity squad, but missed nearly all of his junior season due to mononucleosis.

Bryan finished 41-18 last season, placing second in the Appalachian Athletic Conference behind NAIA World Series champ Tennessee Wesleyan.
