Patience Delight Taber, 33, of Washington, Ill., died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at her home.
Services for Patience will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Peoria, Ill. The Rev. Joel Vander Wal will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Cremation rites will be accorded and a burial at Hillcrest Memory Gardens will follow the church service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church, of which funds will be distributed between Missions, Peoria Great Banquet Community and the Knitting Ministry.
She was born on Dec. 17, 1979, in Rock Island, to Theodore Douglas and Mercy Ann Hamilton Taber.
Patience was a 1998 graduate of Washington Community High School. She received her bachelor's degree in nursing from OSF Saint Francis College of Nursing in Peoria and her master's degree from the Illinois State Mennonite School of Nursing in Bloomington, where she graduated with honors and became a board certified family nurse practitioner. She was working at the Millennium Pain Center in Bloomington, and previously worked as a nurse at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria and Apostolic Christian home for the Handicapped-Group Homes in Morton, Ill.
She was a devoted member of Northminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria, where she taught Sunday school, served on the Missions Team, the church knitting ministry making prayer shawls and participated in the Peoria Great Banquet Community. Patience also was a former Young Life volunteer. She enjoyed cooking for others, gardening, reading and writing. She had a special gift of communicating and keeping in touch with others. What she loved most was her God and her family.
Surviving are her parents, Washington; sister, Hope (Jesse) Placher, Washington; grandmother, Naoma Taber, Rock Island; her aunts and uncles, Rudolph (Sini) Taber, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Ronald (Nancy) Taber, Rock Island, Thomas (Cindy) Taber, New York, Eric Taber, Phoenix, Ariz., Jackie Taber, Rock Island, and Cindy Coy, Winter Green, Va.; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her uncle, Jeff Taber; and grandparents, Rudolph and Gladys Taber and Mildred Hamilton.
