Cambridge man who allegedly delivered drug within 1,000 feet of school charged

CAMBRIDGE -- Shawn W. Johnston, 27,of Cambridge, has been charged with Class 1 felony unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, Class 2 felony unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and Class A misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the circuit court file, Mr. Johnston allegedly delivered oxycodone within 1,000 feet of Lyle School at 920 N. Burr St., Kewanee, on or about Jan. 25.

Charges were filed Tuesday. Henry County Circuit Court Judge Dana McReynolds set a preliminary hearing for Monday, and appointed public defender James Cosby to represent Mr. Johnston.

Mr. Johnston was being held on Wednesday afternoon on $200,000 bail.
