1888 — 125 years ago: John Strohm, Rock Island railroad man, was held up and robbedof a $55 railroad watch by a bandit last night.
1913 — 100 years ago: D. M. Sechler's Implement Co. has purchased the property of theWilson Buggy Co. in Moline.
1938 — 75 years ago: The Kiwanis Club of Rock Island has voted unanimous approval ofthe proposal for a sanitary district to be composed of Rock Island, Moline, East Moline,Silvis and a part of Hampton.
1963 — 50 years ago: The Illinois Supreme Court ruled today that justice of peace courtshave as much right to hear and determine suits for collection of delinquent personalproperty taxes as county courts.
1988 — 25 years ago: Moline police arrested 18 youths between the ages of 14 and 20 atthe home of a 17-year-old girl, where police estimate about 50 underage people attendedan alcohol party. Moline Police Capt. Tom Marxen said the party was discovered by anofficer on routine patrol about 1 a.m. Saturday night when he saw individuals drinkingoutside the residence.
