Letter: Teens need jobs to help provide for nation’s future

Comment on this story

Around summertime, one of the first things children do after school lets out is go on vacation. For teens, however, they are trying to find a summer job or a part-time job.

Sadly, not all of them are going to be employed. That is because of the low employment rate and the bad economy. Many teens would like to have a summer job or a parttime job during the school year, but with the unemployment rate rising, they will not be able to get a job.

Many teens have given up on finding a job because most of the elderly have no choice but to work. Plus, many of the government work plans are not as big as they used to be because those jobs are being taken by unemployed adults.

The government work plans held by most major cities have helped out the teens, but now those job programs are being cut in half. Teens need jobs to help them prepare for their future. Those jobs teach them responsibility, integrity, good ethics, and skills for future jobs. Some adults judge teens before they get to know them and do not hire them, but teens are the future providers for the elderly.

If the teens do not work and the elderly cannot work, who is going to provide for the elderly and their families? That is why teens need jobs so they can provide for the elderly and their families and themselves.
