Hi, I am Casper. ... I think!
It all began when I was 3 months old. Mom and Dad saw an advertisement for some Maltese puppies. They came to check things out. After about an hour, Mom fell in love with me, and they bought me and took me to their house.
They named me Casper, and I had a loving family to live with for the next 15 months. Then all things changed.
It was Christmas Eve 2011 that my world changed, and now I am totally confused.
Mom and Dad had been invited over to her brother's house for a social gathering. Theygot home about 9 p.m., and Dad decided to take me out for my last evening walk.
We got about three houses from our house, and then something strange happened to my dad. He fell, and was lying on the cement. I didn't know what had happened, so I just started barking and barking to try to get someone's attention.
Our neighbor's daughter and granddaughter were coming to see her. The daughterwent inside and told her mother a man was lying across the street with a dog. Her mom asked what they looked like, and she said he was pretty good-sized, and the dog was a little white dog. The mother said, "That sounds like Jack and Casper, and they are good people."
Well, her daughter came back out and checked Dad for a pulse and couldn't detect one, so she started performing CPR on Dad, and she told her daughter to go and have Gramma call 911.
I later found out the lady was a nurse at Trinity Hospital, and her name was Erica Hayes. They called her Dad's Christmas angel.
The ambulance came and took Dad away to the hospital. After tests, they said he had three skull fractures and had a heart blockage. After 22 days in the hospital, and an implanted pacemaker, Dad was able to come home.
Mom and Dad sent his Christmas angel a nice floral arrangement.
Everything is fine now, except for my major dilemma. Dad now calls me "Hero Dog." That is why I am so confused. So would you readers please tell me: Am I Casper or Hero Dog?
Thank you for reading my story.
