Press release submitted by City of Davenport
The City of Davenport is going mobile with the launch of its new app for the iPhone. The all-inclusive iPhone application extends the city's website to the mobile platform enabling Davenport to reach constituents on-the-go. The new app is a convenient way for people to quickly connect with the Mayor, City Council and City departments.
The iPhone app is quicker than logging on to the computer to submit a service request. Residents can access news and alerts, public meeting information and contact information for elected officials and City departments as well as ask questions and make service requests.
"Creating an immediate gateway to the public, this solution takes all of the content and services that we're actively managing on our website, Twitter/Facebook and constituent request, and makes it available to iPhone users," said Rob Henry, Chief Information Officer for the City of Davenport. "The advanced application not only makes it easy for the city to provide information, but also accept information from citizens. Citizens can submit service requests complete with pictures, find services, map locations and more."
The app, powered by eGov, leverages the information stored on the City's existing website for mobile-optimized consumption and enables on-demand interaction between citizens and their local government at no cost to the citizen.
The City of Davenport's iPhone app boasts an array of interactive features including:
Easily locate contact information for City government offices, department or commission.
• PUBLIC MEETINGS
Search all public meetings, preview agendas and contact the meeting organizer.
• ACTION CENTER!
The most comprehensive of the app's new features, this functionality allows users to submit questions and make service requests such as reporting a pothole or necessary road repair in their neighborhood and upload a photo.
A subscription to all local government news organized just like an email inbox.
• CURRENT EVENTS
Find free activities for the whole family or stay on top of important government deadlines.
• SOCIAL MEDIA
Follow the latest updates from the City on Facebook and Twitter.
Enjoy scenic photos of Davenport or follow the progress of City projects.
The new app is available for download now and can be found by searching "Davenport, IA" in the App Store on iPhone or iTunes on the computer. The app is FREE and will begin downloading immediately. All features are ready to use out- of- the- box, no additional set up is required. The Android app will be released soon.
