The series: Augie and North Central have played 148 games, with Vikings dominating. Augie holds a 93-55 advantage. However, North Central has been the dominate one since 2010-11, winning the last five straight. All of those but the latest one, a 59-46 win at Naperville this season, have been close. NC's other wins were by 7, 2, 5 and 4.
Why watch: This game is of utmost importance to the Vikings. They sit in a tie for fourth place with Carthage (11-11, 6-5) in the CCIW, with the top four in the conference reaching the CCIW Tournament. Augie holds the tiebreaker over the Red Men by virtue of wins in both regular-season matchups. With No. 9-ranked Illinois Wesleyan (17-5, 7-4) needing just one win in its final three games to clinch the CCIW title outright, second-place North Central and third-place Wheaton (17-5, 7-4) along with Augie and Carthage are fighting for the other three spots. …. North Central was ranked No. 1 in the nation when it defeated Augie the first time this season. The Cardinals are led by coach Todd Raridon's son, Derek, who leads the team in scoring by shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 44.3 percent from the 3-point arc. … The Cardinals allow an average of just 56.9 points per game, which ranks 11th in the nation in that category. They are 10th in field-goal defense, giving up just 38.1 percent. … Let by Brandon Kunz and Ben Ryan, Augie ranks fourth in the nation in rebound margin. The Vikings are grabbing an average of 38.4 board per game to just 26.8 for their opponents, a margin of 11.6. Kunz and Ryan and Nos. 1 and 2 on the team in both scoring and rebounding.
