Marilyn E. Dillow, 82, of Dixon, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at CGH Medical Center, Sterling.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at McDonald Funeral Home, Rock Falls. Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Wittenmyer officiating. Burial will follow at Coloma Township Cemetery, Rock Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either the Dixon Public Library, 221 S. Hennepin Avenue, Dixon, IL 61021; or the Henry C. Adams Memorial Library, 209 W. 3rd St., Prophetstown, IL 61277.
Born to Elmer and Mary Hartter Mette on Jan. 13, 1931, in Eureka, Marilyn received her diploma from Sheffield High School in 1948.
She worked as a nurse for Dr. Gierhart, of Prophetstown, where she met James L. Dillow. They were married on Nov. 5, 1961.
Marilyn ran a daycare center from home until her boys were in high school. She then worked at Farmers' National Bank in Prophetstown until her retirement in 1995.
Marilyn read constantly, often working her way through five mystery novels in a week. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking (especially baking), but she lived for her sons and her grandchildren.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, James L. Dillow; son, Paul J. Dillow, Los Angeles, James A. (Debra) Dillow, Dixon; granddaughters, Brittlyn and Kacie Jo; sisters, Frances Hughes, Sheffield, and Nancy (Byron) Hallam, Estero, Fla.; and aunt, Annette Shurtter, Eureka.
