Jason Kirby is slated to become the new Canton football coach. According to the Canton School Board agenda, Kirby, the current Rockridge head coach, is to be recommended for hire as a teacher and coach. The board needs to approve the recommendation for it to become official.

Reached by phone on Saturday afternoon, both Kirby and Rockridge athletic director Scott Daly declined comment.

In three seasons with the Rockets, Kirby is 21-9 with three playoff appearances.

Canton's board meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
