[MOLINE, IL] (February 18, 2013) –On February 19th, join friends of the Two Rivers YMCA in celebrating the meaningful work of the Y in our community. Honorees at the Two Rivers YMCA's Community Impact event include Linder Divos and Andrew Levesque, Youth Character Development honorees, Barb Scott, Y Triangle Award recipient, and John Phillips and Tanya Braet, Volunteers of the Year.

The Y strengthens our community by providing opportunities for youth to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Linder Divos and Andrew Levesque exemplify the character values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility – core values cultivated in all Y youth development programs.

The Y triangle award is presented to a member who has overcome serious adversities through the use of the Y. As a participant in the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA program, Barb Scott received the support and guidance she needed to overcome the effects of cancer treatment to achieve well-being of spirit, mind and body.

The Y is volunteer led and volunteer driven, always responsive to community needs. Volunteers like John Phillips and Tanya Braet provide the passion that sparks a movement. John serves as the coach for the Y's Rock Island Pioneering Healthier Communities initiative. Its mission is to provide equitable opportunities for healthy living through policy, education and community change. Tanya, a physical therapist and member of Y Quad Cities Rowing, had a dream to share her love of rowing with those with physical and/or cognitive disabilities. Tanya was instrumental in starting an adaptive rowing program at the Y.

"Along with the award recipients, we celebrate the many community partners that make our work possible," said Mike Wennekamp, CEO. The Y is nurturing the potential of youth, improving the community's health and well-being and providing opportunities to give back and support our neighbors. The impact of the Y is greatly enhanced by the many community collaborations, supporters and donors attending the Community Impact event.
