Because of the looming snowstorm that hit Thursday night, Midwest Collegiate Conference officials delayed the league's women's basketball tournament that was supposed to start Thursday. Instead, the women's quarterfinal games originally scheduled for Thursday will be played Friday night. Among those games is third-seeded St. Ambrose (22-6) hosting sixth-seeded Clarke (6-21) at 5:30 p.m. at Lee Lohman Arena. SAU's Queen Bees swept both regular-season games. With the quarterfinal games getting postponed, the semifinals have been moved to Sunday at 3 p.m. at the highest remaining seeds. The championship game will be Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the highest remaining seed. Because bids to the NAIA Div. II Nationals come out on Wednesday, the tourney must be completed by Tuesday. SAU's sixth-seeded men (10-19), who upset third-seeded Clarke on Wednesday, are still scheduled to visit NAIA's nationally 10th-ranked Mount Mercy (26-4) tonight at 7:30 p.m. in one semifinal clash. The men's championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. -- By Tom Johnston, tjohnston@qconline.com
