Darren Bizarri was just a little confused by his Black Hawk College men's basketball team being the fifth seed for the upcoming NJCAA Region IV Tournament that starts this week.

"As strange as it is, we're seeded ahead of the team that beat us on Thursday (Illinois Valley CC) and behind the team we beat on Tuesday (Carl Sandburg),'' said Bizarri.

The Braves (14-15, 7-5 for third place in the Arrowhead Conference) play in Galesburg at fourth-seeded Carl Sandburg (19-10, 6-6 Arrowhead) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

In the last four weeks, BHC beat CSC 68-62 and 72-64.

"We beat them twice, but they beat South Suburban and Triton, who are seeded 1-2 in the region,'' said Bizarri. "This time of year, you have to play who you have to play where you have to play them. … They've had a really good year and they play really hard. We know going in that we have to match their effort. We need to play hard because that's not an easy gym to win in.''

The Region IV seeds are South Suburban, Triton, Kishwaukee, Sandburg, BHC, IVCC, Olive Harvey, Wilbur Wright and Black Hawk East.

The Region IV Final Four is hosted by IVCC with the winner of Thursday's clash playing in the semifinals on Sunday. The championship game is the following Saturday.
