In her one and only season in a United High School volleyball uniform, Andi Hendrix made her presence felt and helped the Red Storm continue a winning tradition. Now, Hendrix will take her skills to Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. She will sign her letter of intent with CSC in a ceremony this afternoon at 2:10 at the high school, weather permitting. The senior libero and Monmouth-Roseville transfer led United with 308 digs and was second on the team with her 55 service aces, earning first team All-Lincoln Trail Conference honors. Her efforts helped the Red Storm to a 26-7 record and a Class 2A regional title, falling to eventual third-place state finisher Riverdale in the Sherrard Sectional semifinals. Hendrix will join a 2013 Charger roster that includes current CSC freshmen and former Red Storm teammates Sadie Van Norman and Ashlynn Winkler, as well as another former area standout and sophomore-to-be, Rockridge's Caitlin McVay. Last fall, the Chargers finished 13-19 and were 5-7 in the Arrowhead Conference. -- By Sportswriter Terry Duckett
