Norman Potter, 91, of Silvis, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Parkway Manor, Marion, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4107 21st Ave., Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where military honors will be performed by Moline American Legion Post No. 246. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Norman was born on Oct. 29, 1921, in Rock Island, the son of Orlando and Elsie Lelonek Potter. He married Luella Hintz on Oct. 4, 1942, in Memphis, Mo. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2004.
Norman served in the United States Army and received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Moline and a life member of East Moline American Legion Post No. 0227 and East Moline VFW. Norman was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Local No. 25 and owned Wolverton Plumbing Co., Silvis, for over 45 years, retiring in 2000.
Survivors include his daughter, Joyce Anne (Charles) Mann, Herrin, Ill.; granddaughters, Michelle (Jeff) Foster, Tampa, Fla., Pamela Sue (Joe) Stein, Columbia, Mo.; great-granddaughter, Macy Leane Carter; great-grandson, Dakota Adrian Foster; stepgreat-granddaughter, Deon Stein; sister, Mary Davis, Rock Island; and special family friends, Grant (Elizabeth) Cobb and Brian (Shirley) Ballard.
He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, John Potter and Richard Potter; and sisters, Edith Kinnamon, Ethel Krauel, Darlene Wallace and Dorothy Walt.
