Rockridge's Happ on Illinois Mr. Basketball ballot

Area Pacesetter Ethan Happ, Rockridge boys basketball standout has started this season slamming home some high scores, including the Orion Tip-Off Classic were he totaled 117 points and 46 rebounds in those four games, with single-game efforts of 38 and 34 points.
Rockridge junior forward Ethan Happ is one of 40 players appearing on the Illinois Mr. Basketball ballot. The ballot, administered by the Chicago Tribune, was released on Monday.

Happ is one of two small-school players on the list, joining Harrisburg senior guard Tyler Smithpeters. Only nine other juniors made the list.

Included among the finalists are Chicago Simeon seniors Jabari Parker (Duke signee) and Kendrick Nunn (Illinois recruit). Seven players rated the Rivals 150 made the list

"It's an honor to be up there with those guys," Happ said. "Coming into the season, we had some team goals. In the back of my mind, I had some individual goals. But that was not one of them."

The Wisconsin recruit averaged 23 points and 10 rebounds this season, helping the Rockets to their first regional title in 10 years.
