California man charged with cannabis trafficking

CAMBRIDGE — A California man was arrested in Henry County by Illinois State Police on cannabis-related charges Monday.

Daniel Jones, 27, of Redwood City, Calif., was charged Tuesday in Henry County Circuit Court with Class X felony cannabis trafficking, Class X felony possession with intent to deliver and Class 1 felony possession of cannabis.

If convicted, the penalty for the trafficking charges is an enhanced 12 to 60 years in prison.

Public defender James Cosby was appointed to defend Mr. Jones, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 18.

Mr. Jones remained in jail Wednesday afternoon on $250,000 bail.
