Funeral services for Archie W. Gaumer, 90, of Port Byron, will be at noon Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.
Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday.
Mr. Gaumer died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Port Byron, where he had been a member.
Archie was born July 25, 1922, in Moline, the son of Charles and Eleanora Carlson Gaumer. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Ferne Griffin Oct. 5, 1947, in East Moline.
He had been a tool and die maker at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, retiring in 1983, after 42 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was golfing, hunting, fishing, tending to his garden or doing yard work. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ferne Gaumer, Port Byron; daughter, Kathy (Tony) Frankowiak, Silvis; grandchildren, Kristin Keaschall and Greg (Sara) Frankowiak; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Jaren Frankowiak.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helene Lundeen; and brothers, Harold and Walter Gaumer.
