Cyril Preston "Cotton" Davis, 81, Colona, died Friday, March 15, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Preston was born on Dec. 30, 1931, in Unionville, Mo., the son of Francis and Flora Jimmerson Davis. He and his first wife, Lucille, had six children; Terry, Allan, Debbie, Sheryl, Doug and Donald. He later married Patricia Keith who had six children, Gerald, Mike, Greg, Sandra Ben-Nun, Debby Plumb and Stacie Lanzen.
He worked for 20 years at the former AMETEK, East Moline, serving as union president and later retired as a painter from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. After retirement he joined his son as co-owner of Keith Construction. Mr. Davis had driven cars for Mill's Chevrolet and loved talking on his CB -- his handle was Cotton Picker. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and could fix anything. In earlier years, he enjoyed camping and traveling and was always a great adventurer.
He is survived by his wife, Pat; their 12 children and their respective families; sister, Elma Paxton, Ariz.; and brother, Doris Davis, Colona.
