1888 -- 125 years ago: Civil engineers of the Burlington Railroad are surveying RockIsland and Davenport shores of the Mississippi River preparatory to constructing a newbridge.
1913 -- 100 years ago: The highest stage of the river since last fall was observed at RockIsland today. The stage is 8 feet, 8 inches, four feet higher than on March 13.
1938 -- 75 years ago: Rock Island's liquor ordinance was liberalized through lengthenedhours last night by the city council, but the annual liquor license fees were raised.
