Officials say the long-lastingsuds, which find their way into the river after being dumped down the drain, frequentlyaccumulate at the locks and dams. Engineers forced air into tunnels beneath the waterlevel at the local lock in an effort to free ice as the navigation season opened yesterday.The air caused the detergents to bubble up.

Ninety-one knownnames of the homeless who lived and died at the former Henry County Infirmary havebeen engraved on a 24-by-30 inch bronze plaque. The plaque will be mounted on aconcrete base in the front yard at Hillcrest Home, which eventually replaced the oldinfirmary, according to Hillcrest administrator Robert Ruskin.
