DAVENPORT, Iowa -- March 18, 2013 -- Genesis will hit the road with nationally recognized heart care beginning in April.
The Genesis Heart Institute is partnering with HealthFair to provide affordable heart screenings to prevent heart disease and stroke. HealthFair is a national leader in mobile health testing.
HealthFair is the only national mobile testing service accredited by The Joint Commission.
"These affordable, comprehensive screenings put the power of information in the patient's hands,'' explained Charlette Evans, Director of Nursing Operations, Genesis Medical Center. "Mobile screening is convenient and accessible for people who want to be proactive about their health and, in particular, their cardiovascular health.
"We frequently see heart patients who tell us 'I didn't know anything was wrong.' One of our goals is to discover cardiovascular abnormalities in people who otherwise are healthy before the abnormalities become a more serious health issue.''
By hopping on the heart health bus, individuals can receive six tests for just $179. The tests are valued at $2,300.
Tests available are echocardiogram, 12-lead electrocardiogram, hardening of the arteries test, carotid artery (stroke) ultrasound, peripheral arterial disease test and abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound.
There will also be a "Know Your Numbers'' risk assessment available that predicts a five-year risk for stroke, diabetes, heart disease, lung cancer and more. The risk assessment is $99.
All results will be read by board-certified physicians.
Any abnormal results will be reported to the person who was screened and to the person's physician if possible. Anyone with an abnormal result will also be encouraged to follow up with a physician.
Space is limited. To schedule an appointment, go to GenesisHealthFair.com or call 1-855-265-TEST (8378).
