Press release submitted by City of Davenport Parks and Recreation
Davenport, Iowa, March 21, 2013 – Davenport Parks and Recreation will once again hold their Mother Son Formal Dance on Sunday, March 24 at the River Center in downtown Davenport. This is a magical night when mothers and sons get to spend some quality time together at a formal event, but also have some fun with dance, food, and games.
"A Daddy Daughter Dance has always been a traditional offering from Parks and Recreation Departments," according to Betsy Tubbs from Davenport Parks and Recreation. "But we've had a lot of success with the Mother Son Formal for a number of years. We just need to get the word out because a lot of people don't know about this unique event."
According to Tubbs, this is a night to slow down and spend time with your special "guy" at the Mother Son Formal. This is a wonderful event to have some quality time spent having fun, dressing up, and dancing. Couples will be treated to a dinner buffet, crafts, dancing, and a chance to win prizes. A professional photographer will be available to take couple's photos. Moms can be grandmas, aunts, or step-mothers. Best of all, mom does not have to clean up the mess and there is no school on Monday following the dance so you can sleep in!
There is still time to register for the event online:www.cityofdavenportiowa.com/parks or in person at the River's Edge, 700 W River Drive, in downtown Davenport. The fee for the dance is $40 per couple, $20 each additional child, and families must register both parent and child.
