Letter: Outgoing mayor backing Lasek to lead Coal Valley
Comment on this story
As I leave elected office after serving the Village of Coal Valley for 40 years (21 years as a trustee and the past 19 years as village president), I want to thank the citizens of Coal Valley for the faith and trust you placed in me over that span of time. It has been my honor to serve you.
I have watched Coal Valley grow from a very small town into one of the Quad-Cities premier and growing bedroom communities. Additionally, our village finds itself in an enviable strong financial position that our state and other communities wished they had in these tough economic times. Coal Valley is well positioned for future growth, and to continue providing the excellent quality of life services that you our residents deserve.
To ensure our village stays on that path of planned growth with sound financial management practices, I want to endorse Rick Lasek for election as village president in the April 9 municipal election.
Rick has shown to have the necessary skills to take our village into the future.
I ask citizens to show their support for Rick by voting for him in the April election 9. Coal Valley citizens living in Rock Island County will vote at the New Hope Baptist Church on 1st Street and our Henry County residents will vote at Lavender Crest on U.S. 6.
Again, to the citizens of Coal Valley, thank you for letting me serve you the past 40 years.
Stanley B. Engstrom,
