Patsy A. Shelton, 68, of East Moline, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013, at East Moline Nursing and Rehabilitation after an extended illness.
Per her wishes, cremation rites were accorded. A memorial service will be held at a later date with burial to follow at New Boston Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Patsy Shelton memorial fund that has been established at The National Bank to help defray funeral expenses.
Patsy was born July 27, 1944, in Pearl River County, Miss., the daughter of Fred and LeLa Strawbridge Tarver. She married Donald Blaine Birkhead in 1966. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1968.
Patsy worked at the former Jaydon, Milan; Hardee's, Moline; and The Dispatch, Moline. She was a fun and loving person who had a heart of gold and will be missed by many.
Survivors include her brothers, Cleo (Ruth) Tarver, Senatobia, Miss., Baba (Inez) Tarver, Waco, Texas, Mecklin Tarver, Light House, Tenn., and twin brother, Jimmy "Sonny" Tarver, Senatobia; sisters, Lavern Ray, Polkville, Miss., and Helen (C.W.) Jahn, San Leon, Texas; niece, Sharon Brown, Silvis, who cared for Patsy; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Laura (Brent) Fisher, Silvis; and many friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son; brothers, Kermit, Bobby and Cardell; sisters, Jenevar, Connie and Emogene; nieces; nephews; and great-niece, Bethany Crowe-Tarver.
